Walked onto a job site in Portland last month and changed my whole view on tuckpointing

Saw a crew using a $40 mortar bag instead of a grinder for a chimney repair and the finish was so clean I had to ask them about it, anyone else ever switched tools mid-project after seeing someone else's method?

Totally agree, saw a guy use a pointing trowel backwards once and it blew my mind.

Switching to a hawk and trowel after watching a mason in Chicago saved me hours on a tricky brick arch.
