Warning: My new laser level bricked itself on a 90 degree day

Was setting up a garden wall in Phoenix last week, temp hit 95. My brand new DeWalt laser level just shut off mid-job and wouldn't turn back on. Had to finish the whole run with a 4-foot level and string line, took me twice as long. Anyone know a laser that can actually handle some heat?

That DeWalt meltdown in Phoenix sounds brutal.

Gotta disagree on this one honestly. Electronics failing in extreme heat isn't really a brand loyalty thing, it's just physics. My old Bosch unit gave up in Texas summer shade, and a buddy's Milwaukee did the same. For a tool left in direct sun on a 95 degree day, the actual surface temp is way higher. Maybe the lesson is just to keep any laser in the cooler until you're ready to use it.

My cousin's DeWalt laser has been baking in his Arizona truck for three summers now and still works fine. Some brands definitely use better heat resistant plastics and seals around the electronics. It's not just physics, it's also about how much cost a company cuts on materials.
