Watch your mortar mix when it's 90 degrees out, learned that on the Maple St job last week
Last Tuesday we were laying block on a garage in Phoenix and it hit 94 by 11am. I mixed a batch wet like I always do in summer but it started setting up in the hod before I got through two courses. Had to knock the blocks off and scrape the joints, cost me about 40 minutes and half a bag of mix. Now I'm dunking the blocks in a water barrel first and mixing smaller batches. Any of you guys run a retarder in the mix when it's this hot or do you just deal with it?
