Why is everyone still buttering frogs with that cheap premix garbage?

I watched a crew on a jobsite in Austin last Tuesday slap premix on a whole wall and it was cracking before lunch, if you arent mixing your own lime and sand you are asking for trouble, has anyone else seen this stuff fail on a hot day?

Was the wall prepped at all before they put that stuff on, or did they just slap it straight over old backing? I have seen crews skip the scratch coat entirely when they are in a hurry and then act surprised when everything falls apart by end of week. A good mud man knows the base matters more than the brand of butter on top.

Guess I'm a bad mud man then, I usually skip the scratch coat and cross my fingers.
