A guy at the Riverside pawn shop swore a $40 used set of golf clubs would beat my $300 new starter set, and I hate that he was right
I got back into golf this spring on a tight budget and dropped $300 on a shiny boxed starter set, thinking newer had to mean better. Then a retired club guy named Dale at a Riverside pawn shop told me to grab a used set of Ping irons off his rack for $40 and try them for two weeks, no strings. First round out I hit 6 greens versus my usual 2, and the ball just went straighter off the face. Anyone else found a beat up used set that outplayed the new budget stuff, or did I just get lucky with this one?
