Got roasted in a craft group for using hot glue on a jean patch, now I actually sew the damn things

Someone told me my patches would last longer if I stopped being lazy with a glue gun and did a basic stitch instead, and after 3 washes they were right, so has anyone else had a random critic totally change their cheap hobby game?

When you finally gave in and sewed one, did the whole process actually end up taking less time than you thought it would?

Can't believe you actually timed it, @hart.ryan. No way a hand stitch is faster than just blasting glue on there and calling it done. I timed myself once out of spite and it took like 40 minutes for one patch because I kept messing up the needle threading. Hot glue takes maybe 5 minutes tops. So yeah, still slower for me but it holds way better.
