Library crafting bins turned my junk drawer into a real stash

I used to think my free hobby had to be solo, so I just collected bottle caps and old yarn in a shoebox. Then I went to the downtown library's monthly swap and saw they had labeled bins for beads, buttons, and fabric scraps, all free for the taking. In about 2 hours I gathered enough stuff to make 3 greeting cards and a tiny patchwork pouch, zero dollars spent. Now I actually plan my week around what's in those bins, and I'm swapping tips with a retiree who does the same. Has anyone else found a hidden free supply source at their local branch?

Different thing for me. Feels less like a treasure hunt and more like a rescue mission for junk. Those bins just collect stuff people don't want, and half of it is broken or stained anyway. I tried it once and spent more time sorting garbage than making anything. The real win for me was clearing out my own crap first, not scooping up someone else's.
