Library seed swap changed my whole garden plan

I spent 3 months buying $4 seed packets at the hardware store before I found out my local library in Tacoma gives away free seeds every first Saturday. It took me 2 visits to actually catch the swap because the first time I showed up at 10am and they were already cleaned out by 9:30. Has anyone else had luck with these library programs or do they run out that fast everywhere?

Wait, they're gone by 9:30 on the first Saturday? That's wild, I figured libraries would have a bigger stock than that. I mean, I get that free stuff goes fast, but an hour early is just brutal for anyone with a normal schedule. Maybe it's just me, but I'd probably show up like 8:45 with a coffee and a lawn chair next time.

Used to figure libraries stocked plenty for the whole weekend, but this makes it clear they’re basically giving away something people actually want. An hour early still feels rough, but bringing a chair and coffee is probably the smart move now. Guess I’ll be out there with a thermos if I ever want a shot at anything good.
