My $0 birdwatching setup beat my $200 camera setup
Last month I got really into birdwatching. Bought a decent pair of binoculars, a field guide, the whole thing. Then realized I was spending more time fiddling with focus than seeing birds. So last week I just started sitting on a park bench with no gear. Just eyes and ears. Saw a heron catch a fish and a woodpecker doing its thing. All free. Now I only bring binoculars if I'm going somewhere new. Anybody else find the bare-bones version of a hobby works better than the fancy stuff?

Absolutely same here... I spent a fortune on lenses and then realized I was missing half the birds just trying to adjust settings. Now I mostly just find a quiet spot and watch, it's way more relaxing...
