My buddy roasted my rock painting and now i actually sell them

Ive been into rock painting for a while cause its free and i just find cool stones by the creek near my place. My friend Jake saw my pile of painted rocks and straight up said 'looks like a toddler got into some paint and a bag of gravel' lol. He told me to stop using those cheap craft store brushes and try a toothpick and old makeup sponges for details. I tried it last month and my rocks actually look like little animals now instead of blobs. Has anyone else gotten brutal feedback that actually helped their hobby get better?

Wait, what? I read that whole thing and you're telling me Jake gave him good advice? The same Jake that once told me to use Comic Sans on a client's wedding invitation because it looks "playful"? That's like finding out your cat has been secretly paying the electric bill this whole time. I'm genuinely floored. I need to go back and reread the whole thread with fresh eyes because I clearly missed something major.
