My neighbor swore by baking soda toothpaste for whitening, and after 3 weeks I can't tell if it's working or I'm just imagining things

Old Mrs. Chen from down the hall told me to ditch my $12 tube of whitening paste for a mix of baking soda and water, and while my teeth feel cleaner I'm not seeing any difference in color, so has anyone else tried this and actually seen results or is it all placebo?

Are you scrubbing too hard and maybe wearing down your enamel along the way?

Push back on that @skyler_kim15 - soft bristles and a light touch actually leave more plaque behind, so you gotta scrub firm enough to actually clean.
