Overheard a stranger at the thrift store say something about mending that stuck with me
I was digging through the $1 basket at Goodwill last Saturday when I heard this older guy tell his friend, 'I don't buy anything with a zipper I can't fix myself.' That line hit me way harder than it should have. I think because I've thrown away three jackets in the past two years just because the zipper got stuck or broke. So I went home and watched a 10 minute YouTube video on replacing a zipper pull with a paperclip. Turns out you don't even need special tools half the time. Last night I fixed a pair of jeans that had a broken zipper tab using just a keyring I found in my junk drawer. It's not pretty but it works and I didn't spend a dime. Has anyone else had a weirdly good fix job using random household stuff?
