Unpopular opinion: thrift store books are overrated for hobby reading

I spent 3 years grabbing random paperbacks for a buck each until I timed myself - I was wasting 20 minutes per book on duds I'd never finish. That moment at the library last Tuesday when I walked out with three free books I actually wanted tipped me off. Anyone else quit the thrift book grind for library cards?

Wait, are you me? I once spent $8 on a thrift store haul, got home, and realized three of the four books were from the same author I already tried and hated. My library card is basically my pride and joy now, I only have to deal with the shame of actually putting on pants to walk there (lol). Plus, the thrill of ditching a book after one chapter without feeling like I'm wasting my hard-earned $0.50 is honestly worth the trip.

Man, it's fifty cents. You're acting like you financed a small sedan.
