Warning: The free library seed swap fixed my $60 seed habit in one afternoon
I used to drop about $60 every spring on seed packets from the garden center, and half of them never even sprouted. Last month I walked into the monthly seed swap at the Aurora Public Library just to kill an hour, and a lady named Deb handed me a bag of 40 tomato seeds she saved from her own yard. She showed me the little paper envelopes she folds from old phone bill envelopes, and now I do the same thing. I traded my leftover cilantro seeds for three kinds of peppers and some basil, and I spent zero dollars. My whole veggie bed this year came from that one table, and the tomatoes are already 8 inches tall. Has anyone else tried saving seeds from grocery store produce and had it actually work?
