Appreciation post for frozen vegetables vs fresh: which actually wastes less money?

I bought a bag of fresh broccoli last Tuesday that went slimy by Friday. Meanwhile the $1.50 frozen bag I grabbed as backup is still crisp and I've used half of it. Anyone else find that paying more for fresh just means paying to throw food away?

Had a mate who swore by “fresh is always better” until he found a bag of kale at the back of his fridge that was basically liquid. He still brings it up every time I offer him a frozen stir-fry mix.

You ever notice how the people who preach "fresh only" are usually the ones with a science experiment growing in their crisper drawer, @simon_wood72? Yeah, I've been there too. Frozen veggies are picked at peak ripeness and flash frozen, so honestly they're often more nutritious than the sad stuff that's been sitting in a truck for a week. My rule is simple: if I'm cooking it within 48 hours, fresh wins. Anything beyond that, frozen is the smarter move and it saves money too since you're not tossing half the bag. Tell your mate to redeem himself with a bag of frozen peas, they're practically indestructible.
