Grass-fed vs. regular ground beef for chili, my wallet still hurts
I had to pick between grass-fed ground beef at $6.50 a pound and the regular stuff for $3.99 at my local Kroger last week. Went with the grass-fed because I heard it's better quality, but for a big pot of chili feeding four people, the cost added up fast. Honestly, the flavor difference was pretty small after all the spices and beans went in. Anyone else feel like fancy beef gets lost in a heavy recipe like chili?

Read somewhere that grass-fed beef has a different fat composition so the flavor gets masked by heavy spices anyway. Might as well save money next time and put that extra cash toward better cheese or fresh toppings instead.

That "different fat composition" bit makes a lot of sense, I never thought of it that way.
