Had a bag of rice split open in my pantry last night. Salvaged most of it. What's your go-to cheap rice dish?

My grandma's trick is to fry leftover rice with a spoonful of oyster sauce and frozen peas. Costs pennies and tastes way better than it should.

Oh man, that reminds me of this time I was housesitting for my aunt. She had this ancient rice cooker and a bag of frozen mixed veggies that had definitely been in there since at least 2019. I thought it'd be a disaster but I tossed it all in with some chili oil and leftover chicken, and honestly it was one of the best meals I've had. Ngl, I think old frozen veggies actually work better for fried rice than fresh ones, they don't get all soggy and weird. Your grandma's onto something with that oyster sauce though, I've been sleeping on that stuff my whole life.

Oyster sauce is a game changer for sure. I just do soy sauce, a scrambled egg, and whatever sad veggies are left in the fridge.
