Learned that canned beans are way cheaper than dried ones in my area

I was at the grocery store last Thursday and decided to actually compare prices. A 15 ounce can of black beans was $0.89 but a 1 pound bag of dried beans was $2.49. That surprised me because everyone always says dried beans save you money. I found this out by just looking at the shelf tags and doing quick math in my head. For my family of four, canned beans come out to around $0.22 per serving versus $0.31 for dried after cooking. Has anyone else noticed this flip in pricing depending on where you shop?

Hang on, $0.89 for a 15 ounce can? That's wild. Around here, canned beans are usually closer to $1.50 a can, and dried beans are about $1.79 a pound. I honestly thought the dried bean thing was a universal money saving tip, but your prices are totally backwards from mine. It makes sense that prices vary that much by region though, especially with shipping costs and what stores think they can get away with. I'd be stocking up on those cheap canned beans for sure if I saw that deal.

Grabbed a case of those 89 cent cans myself last month, lee.lucas, and I just rotate them into my meal prep now. I do the same thing with diced tomatoes when they hit that price, I snag a bunch and stash them in the pantry. Ended up saving enough over a few weeks to treat myself to a nice steak dinner. So yeah, your math is totally right about stocking up when the deal is good.
