My rice cooker blew a fuse last Tuesday and now I'm back to stovetop for good

I was making my usual batch of rice for meal prep and the thing just died mid-cycle. Smoke and everything, smelled like burnt plastic for two days. Instead of buying a new one I dug out my old 3 dollar pot from the thrift store. Now I'm saving 30 bucks by not replacing the cooker and the rice tastes better honestly. Anyone else ditch their countertop gadgets for basic cookware?

Did you ever try making rice in a cast iron pan? I switched to that after my old rice cooker gave out and now I swear by it, the texture is way better than the cooker ever made.

Man I read somewhere that the stovetop method actually makes fluffier rice.
