My rice cooker exploded rice all over the kitchen last Tuesday

I was trying to make a cheap batch of Mexican rice using that $4 bag from Aldi and the lid popped off around minute 10. Rice was on the ceiling, the counters, even inside my coffee maker somehow. I spent like 45 mins cleaning while my dinner turned to mush in the pot. Anyone else have a kitchen gadget fail spectacularly on a budget meal?

Pop the lid off mine doing the same thing with a cheap bag of rice from Walmart. The stove looked like a war zone with little white pellets everywhere. Even found a piece of rice stuck to the ceiling fan blade a week later. Still ate the gluey mess in the pot though, too broke to waste it.

Rice stuck to a ceiling fan blade really? That sounds like a bit of an exaggeration to me @ivan82. Maybe clean your kitchen more often, a few rice pellets flying around isnt exactly a disaster. Its just rice, not like you set the place on fire.
