Rice cooker blew a fuse when I tried to make overnight oats in it
I was at my apartment in Chicago last Tuesday, dumped steel-cut oats and water in my $20 rice cooker and set it to slow cook before bed. Woke up to a dark kitchen and a burnt plastic smell - has anyone else had luck adapting recipes meant for a slow cooker into a rice cooker?

My $30 Aroma rice cooker did the EXACT same thing with steel cut oats. The problem is that rice cookers don't actually slow cook, they just keep a steady low boil. I tried it once and woke up to a blown fuse and a scorched mess that smelled like a burned down garage. What works for me now is using the regular white rice setting but turning it off after 15 minutes and letting it sit for an hour with the lid closed. The oats come out perfect and creamy without the risk of blowing up my kitchen again. Just don't fill it more than halfway because they expand like crazy.
