Shoutout to my mom's old grocery trick

She told me last month to plan meals around the sale flyer, not my cravings. Saved $40 on my weekly trip to Aldi by sticking to what was on the front page. Anyone else's parents have weird old-school tips that actually work?

And that front page trick is legit but the real hack is going even deeper. Flip to the back pages where they hide the clearance stuff that's about to expire. My mom would hit Aldi on Tuesday mornings right when they mark down the meat and produce that needs to go in like 2 days. She'd grab a family pack of chicken for half price, freeze it the same day, and that alone would drop our weekly total by another $15-20. Plus the produce closeout section is gold for meal prep if you're cooking that night. It's like the flyer is the appetizer and the clearance rack is the main course.

Yeah my grandma did the same thing with the manager's special sticker meat at Kroger, would just buy whatever had that yellow tag and build meals around it. Saved a stupid amount that way.
