Took me 45 minutes to find a cheap cut of beef that actually worked for stew

I spent way too long at the grocery store last week reading labels trying to find something under $5 a pound that wouldn't turn into shoe leather. Finally settled on a chuck roast and it came out decent after 3 hours in the slow cooker. Has anyone else had luck with cheaper cuts for weeknight meals?

Chuck roast is the hidden gem for stews, it's cheap and gets tender as long as you give it time.

12 hours simmering for a cheap cut of beef? I dunno man, I wouldn't call it a hidden gem, it's basically the standard move for anyone with a slow cooker. Is this really the kind of discovery that changes lives?
