Vent: My grocery bill in Phoenix jumped $40 this week for no good reason
I swear, I bought the same basic stuff I always get at the Fry's on 7th St - beans, rice, some chicken, veggies. My total was $92 when it's usually around $52. I think it was the stupid 'shrinkflation' on the pasta boxes and the chicken being $2 more a pound. How are you all dealing with these sudden price hikes on staples?

Ugh, that's brutal! It's not just shrinkflation either, they're straight up changing the price tags overnight. I saw ground beef jump a dollar fifty between my trips last Tuesday and Friday. It feels like they're testing how much we'll put up with before we stop buying. My new rule is if something is way more than last week, I just don't get it that trip. It's making meal planning a total nightmare.

I started buying the big family packs of chicken at Costco and freezing them in portions. Saved me almost $40 last month compared to the grocery store.
