Hot take: your bullet journal doesn't need a future log at all
I stopped using a future log about 8 months ago after reading a blog post from a guy who runs some minimalist journal site. He tracked his stats over a whole year and found that 80 percent of the stuff he put in his future log never actually happened or got moved around so much it was useless. I tried it myself and realized I was spending 15 minutes each month rewriting the same few events that kept getting postponed. Now I just use a simple monthly spread and a separate note in my phone for things more than 3 months out. Has anyone else ditched a core system like this and found it works better?

You know, you mentioning that 80 percent stat hits way too close to home. I swear my future log was just a graveyard for things like "learn to knit" and "organize the garage" that I kept moving from January to June to "next year." I ditched mine a few months ago and now I just have a single sticky note on my desk for stuff that's more than a month away, and honestly half the time I lose the sticky note too, so maybe I'm not the best example of a system that works.

Tack a small corkboard by your desk, it works way better than sticky notes ever did for me.
