I gave up on weekly spreads after 4 months of daily fails
Every Sunday I'd set up a pretty weekly layout in my A5 notebook, then by Tuesday I'd already skip two days because life gets hectic at the warehouse. Last week I just switched to a rolling daily list with only 3 tasks max, no colors, no boxes. Anyone else dump the fancy stuff and just scribble one line per day, or am I the only one who needs bare bones to actually keep up?

Hold onto the weekly spread. The problem isn't the layout, it's that you were treating it like a promise instead of a tool. A rolling list sounds fine until you lose track of the big picture and start forgetting the stuff that doesn't fit into three boxes. The pretty boxes and colors are what make you actually want to open the notebook in the first place, even on the rough days. Bare bones just turns planning into another boring chore, and that's the first thing people quit. Give the weekly another shot, but cut the tasks down to five and treat Tuesday like a reset button, not a failure.
