My old boss saw my bullet journal and called it a 'glorified to-do list'
This was back in 2018, when I was still using a basic notebook for work. I had it open on my desk during a quiet afternoon in the office. He walked by, pointed at my monthly log and said, 'Looks like a glorified to-do list to me.' It stuck with me because I was just starting out and felt a bit silly. But it made me really think about why I was doing it, beyond just tasks. Now my journal has trackers for my reading and a whole section for garden planning. Has anyone else had someone totally not get your system at first?

Ugh, that comment would have bugged me too. Calling it a glorified to-do list totally misses the point. It's your whole system for keeping track of what matters to you, not just work tasks. My journal is where I figure things out, and that's way more important than a simple list.

My bullet journal actually has three sections, one for tasks, one for goals, and one for random thoughts. That mix is what makes it work so well for me, not just the to-do part. It's the whole package that helps me stay on track.
