My old spread was too pretty to use, a friend called me out on it

I spent like 3 hours decorating a weekly layout with washi tape and hand lettering, then realized I was avoiding writing stuff down so I wouldnt mess it up. My friend glanced at my journal and said "that looks more like an art project than a tool" which hit harder than I expected. Now I keep a super barebones rapid log for actual tracking and turned my fancy pages into a separate creative sketchbook, has anyone else split their bujo into functional and decorative books?
