Sat next to a stranger at a coffee shop who showed me her decade-old bullet journal

She pulled out this beat up notebook from 2015 and flipped to her first spread - it was just a messy list of habits and a calendar, nothing fancy. It made me realize I've been overthinking layouts when the whole point was always just to write stuff down, so what's the simplest system that's actually stuck with you for years?

And yeah totally agree about overthinking. I spent six months making perfect mood trackers and then never looked at them again. My system that actually lasted was just a pocket notebook I called my "stupid brain dump" where I wrote the date and one thing I needed to remember that day. Sometimes it was just "buy milk" or "that guy at work said something weird." It's the least impressive journal you ever saw but I kept it for four years straight. Funny how the ugly messy systems work better than the pretty ones we spend hours on.
