Spreadsheet tracker vs paper log, my whole July fell apart

I kept a digital tracker for 3 months and it worked great until my laptop died near Austin. Lost every single habit streak and expense record because I never backed it up. Then I tried going pure paper and I keep forgetting to carry the notebook. Which system do you all trust when things actually go wrong, or do you run both?

Pick the one that hurts less when it fails. I run both but the paper one is just a tiny card with 3 boxes, if I lose it I only lose a week not my whole life.
