Got a deer dropped off with the hide still full of birdshot
Last Tuesday a guy backed his truck up to my door in Missoula with a mule deer he'd shot five times, and every pellet had left a little tunnel through the meat. I stood there poking at it with my boning knife while he kept saying the dog would eat the damaged parts, and I told him the dog wasn't the one paying me. Ended up trimming close to six pounds of ruined shoulder and neck, then walked him through where each pellet had blown through so he could see why the front half was trash. He stared at the pile for a minute, said nobody ever showed him that before, and asked if I'd teach him how to aim for the ribs next season. Any of you ever get a customer who actually wants the lesson after you hand them the bad news?
