Hit my 500th side of beef today and it kinda freaked me out

Honestly, I was just counting up my orders from the last 3 years at Barnaby's Meats in Portland and realized I've broken down exactly 500 sides of beef. That number just hit different, like all those early mornings and messed up knives finally adding up to something real. Did anyone else get surprised by a random milestone like that or am I overthinking it?

Actually it was 2 years, not 3. Time just blurs together in the meat locker though.

500 sides of beef" is just a stunning number to me. I had to read that twice. That is a mountain of meat, plain and simple. I used to work in a grocery store meat department back in the 90s and I don't think we saw that much product in an entire year, let alone from one person. The fact that you kept count for three years is pretty impressive too. It must feel weird to see your work laid out like that, all those afternoons and early mornings turned into a simple number.
