My band saw blade snapped in the middle of a rush yesterday
Was breaking down a whole pig for a customer order due at 3pm and halfway through the shoulder the blade just let go. Sounded like a gunshot. Had to stop everything, swap the blade, and re-tension. Took me 20 minutes to get back going. Anyone else had a blade fail at the worst possible time?

Oh man, that noise is the worst. I used to think I could just crank the tension and it would be fine for anything, but after mine snapped right through a rib roast for a holiday order, I totally changed my mind. Now I actually check the blade for any micro cracks or wear before I even start on something big. It's a pain but nothing compared to stopping everything mid cut.

@patricia905, are you checking both sides of the blade or just the teeth side for those micro cracks? I always miss the back edge and that's where mine usually let go.

Yep, that back edge gets me every time too.
