My old grinder died mid-shift last Tuesday and I panicked
I was working through a batch of 40 pounds of chuck for burgers when my grinder just seized up. The blade was shot and I didn't have a spare on hand. Had to borrow a buddy's grinder two blocks away and haul it back. Anybody got a go-to grinder brand that holds up for heavy home use without breaking the bank?

Think about upgrading the auger and knife assembly before the whole grinder. Most people blame the motor when it's actually cheaper parts wearing out first and dragging everything down with them. A $30 set of replacement plates and blades can make a tired machine run like new for another few years.

My buddy ignored that exact advice on his old grinder and ended up burning out the motor completely.

Found myself in the exact same spot last fall. Bought a used grinder from a guy on Facebook Marketplace for 40 bucks, threw a new 30 dollar blade and plate kit at it, and it grinds like a champ for a few hundred pounds a year. The secret is to keep spare parts on hand and swap them before they're completely shot, not after. Saved me from having to borrow a grinder in the middle of a cookout again.
