Spent 3 hours trying to fix a dull bandsaw blade before realizing it was on backwards

Got a new blade for my bandsaw last week from the local supply shop. I spent a good 3 hours adjusting tension, cleaning the wheels, and messing with the guides. Nothing worked right, cuts were awful. Finally my buddy walked by and pointed out the blade was facing the wrong direction. Felt like a real idiot. Has anyone else had a simple mistake eat up a whole afternoon?

Did that exact thing with a miter saw blade a few months back. Spent a solid afternoon fighting with it, making the worst cuts of my life, and blaming it on "cheap store brand blades." Only realized it when I went to sharpen the thing and actually looked at the teeth orientation. Nothing makes you feel smarter than losing half a day to a problem that solves itself with a single glance.

Is losing half a day to something like that REALLY that big of a deal? I mean yeah it's annoying but it's not like you broke the saw or hurt yourself. Half a Saturday spent on a stupid mistake is practically a rite of passage in any workshop. You learn way more from that kind of frustration than you do from everything going perfect the first time. Honestly the whole story just sounds like a good reason to finally sharpen all your blades and maybe organize your garage a bit.
