I was running a line in an attic in Phoenix last Tuesday and a family of raccoons decided to help.

Get a live trap and bait it with cat food, they go nuts for it. Had a mom and four babies set up shop in a crawlspace last spring, took three days to get them all out. Just make sure you have a plan for where to release them, animal control gets real grumpy if you just drop them off. And check your entry points after, because if you don't seal it up, the next family is already on the way.

Sounds like a lot of work for some raccoons. Are they really that big of a deal if they're just in the crawlspace?

It's funny how this raccoon thing fits into a bigger pattern I've noticed. People always assume a problem will just go away if they ignore it long enough. But nature doesn't work like that, it finds a way in and stays until you deal with it. Same goes for stuff like a leaky pipe or a weird noise from your car. You put it off and suddenly it's a full blown disaster instead of a small fix. Sealing up those entry points is the part everyone skips too, they think getting the raccoons out is the end but the real work is making sure nothing else gets in. It's like people want the quick fix without the actual solution.
