Just realized my fish tape needs a diet

I was pulling Cat6 through a crawlspace in a 1920s house in Cleveland last Thursday and my fish tape kept snagging on every single cross brace. Turns out I had 3 feet of extra tape coiled up inside the reel that was causing all the friction. Anybody else ever have a tape that just gets too fat to work right?

Deal with this all the time in property management. Same thing happens with garden hoses and extension cords. People coil them up too tight and the extra bulk jams everything up. Pulled a hose out of a storage bin last week and had to untwist six loops that were kinked in the middle. Just a few extra inches of slack turns a simple job into a wrestling match.

Oh man, I feel your pain so much on this. It's like the universe just decides to add an extra layer of frustration to something that should be simple, right? You spend half the time just battling the hose before you can even use it.
