That one stubborn coax connector cost me 45 minutes on a Friday job

I was finishing up a install in an older house last week and the main line coming in had a connector that just would not thread. I tried a new compression fitting, even a different tool, nothing. Turned out the previous installer had used a thread adapter that was slightly stripped and I didn't spot it until I pulled the whole wall plate off. Has anyone else run into hidden adapter problems eating up your time on a simple hookup?

...and that's exactly why I always keep a small flashlight and a magnifying glass in my bag now. Had a similar thing last month where the old connector looked fine from the front but the threads were completely mangled underneath where I couldn't see. Ended up having to cut the whole coax back about 6 inches and put a new end on it. The worst part was the customer was standing right there watching me fumble with it for 20 minutes before I figured out what was going on.

Hate when the customer just stands there watching, lol.
