Warning: My old way of fishing cable through insulation was costing me hours

For years I'd just push the fish tape and hope it didn't get stuck in the fluffy stuff, which it always did. About six months ago, a guy at the supply house showed me a rigid fiberglass rod he uses. I bought a 12-foot one for about $80 and tried it on a job in a Cape Cod style house last week. It slides right through the insulation without snagging, and I cut my time per run in half. Has anyone else switched to rods for insulated walls, or do you have a different trick?

Oh man, I feel that pain so much. I lost so many hours fighting with fish tape in blown-in insulation before I switched to rods. They really do just glide through that fluffy mess like it's nothing. Total game changer for those old house jobs.

Exactly. It's funny how often the right tool changes everything. You see it all over, not just with wiring. People struggle for ages with something that feels impossible, then find a simple fix that just works. Makes you wonder what else we're all fighting through because we don't know there's a better way.
