Wasted $200 on a cheap crimper kit from Amazon

I bought a no-name crimper set off Amazon for $35 thinking I was saving money. After fighting with bad connections on three jobs in Austin, I finally borrowed my buddy's Klein and finished in half the time. The cheap one stripped two RG6 cables wrong and gave me intermittent signal issues. Anyone else get burned by bargain tools that end up costing way more in the long run?

Did you ever try returning the cheap one? Amazon is pretty good about taking stuff back even if you already used it. I actually had the opposite experience with a $30 crimper from a no-name brand, it worked fine for basic coax jobs around my house. Maybe you just got a defective one or maybe the Klein was already dialed in right. Sometimes the problem is the user not the tool, no offense.

Tried returning it actually. Had to eat the shipping cost since it was a third party seller, not Amazon direct. Honestly even if I got my money back I'd still be out the time messing with it. Glad your cheap one worked out, but I've had too many bad experiences with no name crimpers to trust them for anything important. The Klein just works every time no guesswork. Maybe my technique needs work, but I've done enough coax terminations to know the difference between user error and a tool that won't hold a consistent crimp.
