Bought a $45 cable box kit, ended up using a shoebox instead
Ordered one of those snap-together boxes with grommets to hide my surge protector and power strip behind the TV stand. The plastic tabs broke on the first try, so I grabbed an old shoebox, cut a notch in the back, and honestly it looks cleaner and cost me nothing. Has anyone else ditched the fancy gear for something you had lying around?

Oh man, tell me about it. I once bought a $60 cable management kit and ended up using a paper towel roll for the wires. The roll even had a little tear in it that made a perfect spot for the cord to pop out. Honestly, the shoebox is probably sturdier than my attempt because my tape job was so bad it looked like a cat attacked the roll. I swear these companies sell us overpriced plastic just to make us feel guilty about our junk drawers. You won the game with that shoebox, and I’m a little jealous.
