Why does nobody talk about using old toilet paper tubes for cable management?
I had a mess of cables behind my TV last week and was about to buy a fancy $25 cable sleeve from Amazon. Then I remembered a tip from a buddy in Portland who said just use empty toilet paper tubes. So I cut a slit down each tube, slid my HDMI and power cords inside, and taped them under my desk. The weird part? It actually looks cleaner than those velcro straps I used before because the tubes keep the cables from bending too sharp. I also color coded the tubes with a marker so I know which is which. Total cost was zero since I already had tubes and tape. I did learn that cardboard can get a little dusty over time, so maybe not great for super long term. But for a quick fix in a rental apartment, it works. Anyone else tried this or found a better free option?
Never thought about the fire angle but a bunch of cardboard tubes taped under a desk right next to power cords is basically kindling if something ever shorts out. Probably fine for HDMI, just wouldn't wrap the actual power bricks in them.
