Discovered a trick for cleaning old lens haze with qtips and lighter fluid
Had a 50mm f1.4 from the 70s that looked like someone fogged up the glass on purpose and after 3 tries with regular cleaner I grabbed some ronsonol on a whim - worked like a charm for the front element haze. Anyone else tried weird household stuff to save a cloudy vintage lens?

Read somewhere that lighter fluid actually dissolves the oil from old lubricants that have outgassed onto the glass over decades. Makes sense why regular lens cleaner didnt touch it since that just pushes stuff around. Ronsonol is basically just naphtha which is a mild solvent. Ive heard of people using a drop of dish soap diluted in water for fungus spots too but you gotta be careful not to damage the coating. Brake cleaner on an aperture ring sounds terrifying but if it works it works.
