Dropped a shutter curtain spring and spent 45 minutes looking for it

Was working on a Pentax Spotmatic in my basement shop last Tuesday. That little spring flew off my tweezers and I heard it ping off the concrete floor somewhere near the workbench. I spent almost an hour on my hands and knees with a flashlight, no luck. Finally found it stuck to the bottom of my boot when I stood up to grab a broom. Has anyone else lost tiny parts in dumb ways like that?

Oh man, that is exactly the kind of thing that happens to me all the time! I once lost a tiny screw from an old watch movement and found it three weeks later inside my vacuum cleaner bag after giving up and buying a replacement. Did you ever find yourself crawling around just hoping to hear that little "ting" sound again?

Three weeks, huh. I found a spring from a vintage lighter under the fridge six months after I dropped it, still got the replacement parts sitting in a drawer. Yeah, I've done the carpet crawl too many times to count, listening for that ping like it's a winning lottery ticket. It's always a relief when you find it, even if your knees are sore for a week after.
