Felt pads under a mirrorless body, the vibration fix I never saw coming
I had a job last Tuesday where a guy's A7III was giving these weird micro blur lines in about 1 in 20 shots, only at slower shutter speeds. I checked the IBIS, swapped lenses, cleaned the sensor, the whole bit. Then I noticed his bottom plate had these thin self-adhesive felt pads, like 3mm thick, that he'd stuck on to stop the camera from sliding on his desk. He said he'd put them on six months back. I took them off, shot 40 frames at 1/15th, and not a single blur. The pads were transmitting vibration from his grip right into the body, messing with the sensor shift. I never would've guessed little squares of fuzzy stuff could do that. Has anyone else had a weird accessory mod cause a stabilizer issue like this?
