I'm tired of fixing cameras that were ruined by online tutorials
These quick fix videos are causing real problems in my shop. Just yesterday, someone brought in a mirrorless camera with a cracked sensor from prying it open wrong. They followed a guide that said to use a flathead screwdriver, which is a bad idea. Now the repair costs three times more because I need new parts. The videos never mention the tiny springs or seals that can fly off and get lost. It takes me hours to sort out the mess they made. The people making these clips have no business teaching others. We need better resources so folks don't trash their gear.

Love how every dude with a camera and a YouTube account suddenly becomes a repair expert. Watch one five minute video and suddenly they're qualified to tell people to jam flathead screwdrivers into a two thousand dollar piece of gear. It's a great business model though, they get the views while you get the bill for the parts they launched across the room.

Ever try a local repair shop instead?

That line about "the parts they launched across the room" really hit home. I feel for you, because it’s the same helpless feeling when someone brings in a camera they’ve taken apart and can’t put back together. Those little springs and screws are nearly impossible to find once they’re gone, and the video maker never has to deal with that loss. It creates so much extra work just to get back to the original problem, if it can be fixed at all. There’s a real difference between a simple tip and giving people the false confidence to crack open complex gear.
