My third Canon AE-1 this year just locked up mid-roll and I'm this close to tossing it out the window

Happened last Saturday on a Nikon F2 I was testing-mirror got stuck halfway through a test roll-and after 45 minutes of prying and cleaning the foam bumper, I realized the whole thing just needs a new mirror box, so has anyone tried swapping those out instead of buying a whole replacement body?

Forty five minutes is a sign from the universe that the F2 is testing your patience just like my old Minolta did before I gave up on it. I find that old cameras and old relationships follow the SAME rule once you start having to explain away the problems, it's already over. Sometimes the most Honest thing you can do is accept that some things are meant to be replaced, not repaired.
