Question about using a $30 ultrasonic cleaner versus a brush for old shutter blades

I cleaned a sticky Minolta X-700 shutter with the ultrasonic tank after the brush method failed twice, and it's been cycling perfectly for a week now, so has anyone else found a specific job where one method just crushes the other?

That "brush method failed twice" line hits close to home. I've spent whole afternoons poking at shutter blades with a tiny brush, just making the gunk angrier. The ultrasonic cleaner feels like cheating, but the kind of cheating where you finally get to eat dinner instead of staring at a tiny, oily spring. My success rate with the brush is so low I should probably use it to dust my desk instead.
