Spent 8 years cleaning sensor glass with a dry swab before a retired Nikon tech told me to always wet it first.
Has anyone else been doing it dry this whole time or am I the only one who missed that memo?

Think you just found out your sensor's been scraping along for eight years.

Hold on @lucas498, are you saying the sensor itself was physically scraping the ground, or is that just how you found out it was completely shot? Seems like your rig has been running on borrowed time without you noticing. My buddy's Subaru had a rough idle for a year before the knock sensor finally gave up completely.
