Unpopular opinion: I think that new 'universal' sensor cleaning fluid is a bad idea

Had a guy bring in a Leica M10 last week with a sensor that looked like it had been wiped with syrup, and he swore he only used two drops of the stuff. It left a residue that took me three hours with pure alcohol to get off without damaging the microlenses. Has anyone else seen this happen with the blue bottle stuff from that big online store?

Honestly, this is why I never trust universal fixes.

Man, that sounds like a nightmare to clean up. Seeing a high-end sensor gunked up like that would make my heart sink. It's stories like this that keep me using the old, trusted brand-specific kits, even if they cost a bit more. That residue problem is exactly the kind of hassle nobody needs.

Tbh, Keithwalker has a point about universal fixes. I tried that blue bottle stuff once on an old DSLR and ended up with a smudge pattern that looked like a sad ghost. I felt so dumb trying to fix my own mess.
